PM-Kisan 21st Installment: What Farmers Need to Know (Release on 19 November 2024)
The Central Government has disclosed the launch of the 21st installment under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, to commence on 19 November 2024. Small and marginal farmer families that are eligible will receive ₹2,000 directly into their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Timed ahead of the Rabi season, this payment eases cash flow for seed, fertilizer, and other short-term inputs.
What PM-KISAN Provides
PM-KISAN provides ₹6,000 a year to a farmer family who meets the criteria to qualify for the program. The total amount is divided into three installments, each disbursing ₹2,000. These installment payments are meant to assist farm households in recurring expenses for agricultural and household consumables. This scheme is targeted at small and marginal farmers, whose eligibility criteria are based on state land records and central guidelines.
21st Installment: Date and Processing
The 21st installment is fast approaching, and the government has slated the 21st installment date for 19 November 2024. When the system becomes active, the transfers will funnel through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. The entire process is automated; farmers need not visit government centers to claim the money. Depending on bank processing time, credits may appear within hours to a few days post-disbursement.
Verify Your Details to Avoid Delays
Farmers are urged to verify three vital things well before the release date for smooth processing:
- eKYC completion – It is compulsory for beneficiaries to do eKYC for proper identification, to ensure that there is no duplication.
- Aadhaar-bank linkage – Correct linking of Aadhaar to bank account is very critical for the success of DBT.
- Correct account details – Name matching, account number, and IFSC code must all be cross-checked to avoid failed transfers.
Any mismatch/completeness checks can lead to pending/failed payments, thus the need for proper time checks.
The Methodology to Check Beneficiary Status and List
Farmers may check whether a payment has been initiated via the official PM-KISAN portal under Farmers Corner. The “Beneficiary Status” tool accepts Aadhaar, mobile number, or bank account number for reporting whether the installment is initiated, pending, or credited. The Beneficiary List feature helps users check registered names in their area by state, district, block, and village. Those without names should make corrections in land records and complete eKYC through either the portal or their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).
Eligibility and Documents Requirements
Eligible beneficiaries comprise farmer families outcome-feeding cultivable land as seen in the state land records. These generally exclude some categories of institutional landholders, income-tax payers, and the high-income groups. Generally, to register or update records, farmers will require: Aadhaar card; land ownership documents; bank account details; and mobile number. New registrations require verification at the state level before approval.
Reason This Installment Matters
The ₹2,000 payout arrives at the beginning of the Rabi season and is thus intended to assist farmers with the purchase of inputs and management of operational costs. However, consistent and timely transfers under PM-KISAN not only bring immediate relief, but also create predictability over the longer term for smallholders dependent on seasonal earnings.
Final Advice to Beneficiaries
Visit include the PM-KISAN portal early before 19 November to know one’s status, complete eKYC, and verify bank details; visit a CSC or nearby agriculture office if problems still persist. Staying ahead of the curve guarantees that you will get the installment at the right time and continue to derive benefit from the scheme.
