New Rules on Aadhaar Card: Know It 2025

UIDAI announced key changes after November 7, 2025, which will make Aadhaar secure, comfortable and easily accessible for all. These rules will apply directly to the use of Aadhaar for banking, filing taxes or availing of government schemes and are up-to-date on simplifying digital services, reducing physical visits, and increasing data security.

Online Update from Home

Several updates of Aadhaar details have become possible now to be done online. No more long queues, waiting, or an appointment at a center now. Log on to the UIDAI portal with the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, select Update and upload proofs such as PAN, passport, voter ID, etc. The automated verification will process the request fast and safe. This will be a huge relief for senior citizens, disabled persons, and also for people living in remote areas.

Change in Fees

The fee for online updates (name, address, mobile number, etc.) has now been pegged at ₹75. The charge levied for updating biometrics—fingerprints, iris, or photo—is ₹125. Biometric updates will be free for ages between 5-7 and 15-17 years for easy recording of how age varies with time. Users wishing to visit the offline center can do so; home-based enrollment/update services are also available—₹700 for the first person and ₹350 for each additional member at the same address. Online document updates were free until June 14, 2026.

Aadhaar-PAN Linking Made Mandatory

There is now mandatory coupling of Aadhaar and PAN. The due date is 31st December 2025. After this date, the PAN will automatically be inactivated from 1st January 2026, which may create an issue while filing ITRs, opening bank accounts, and many other financial transactions. From now on, Aadhaar verification will be mandatory when applying for a new PAN. This will ensure duplicate identities are not created and adherence to tax and banking regulations is more simple.

Simplified KYC and Verification

The KYC process has been simplified for banks, NBFCs, and other institutions. An identification of a customer can be completed with the use of Aadhaar OTP, video KYC, and, if necessary, physical verification. This is an entirely paperless process, allowing more time for customers and institutions, faster account activation, and better record keeping.

Enhancement of Security and Transparency

Online updates, stringent biometric verification, and a digital audit trail of all transactions avoid the trouble of fraud and identity misuse. The enhanced encryption and document verification features keep your private information secure. UIDAI has also revamped and strengthened backend protocols so that citizens can update without any doubt.

Reasons Why These Changes Are Important

These rules transform identity management into a faster, cheaper, and more futuristic process. Doorstep services, reasonable charges, and mandatory Aadhaar-PAN linking will improve data accuracy and provide smooth service delivery. Prompt updating of information, complete linking, and accessing of features such as status/downloads only through the official UIDAI website or app—all these add up to avoiding unauthorized agents/websites.
